04 / THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND EZ

An estimator who knows
both sides of the plans.

10years in
estimating

Experience from the contractor’s office, the lumber yard, and the carpentry firm.

EZ Lumber Takeoff is built on 10 years of estimating experience across general contracting, lumber supply, and carpentry. That background brings an understanding of how a material list gets used by the people pricing, supplying, and building a project.

Past estimating work spans residential homes through large school and hospital facilities. Today, that experience is paired with AI tools to support a hybrid takeoff process. Automated preparation keeps things moving; personal review checks the quantities, scope, and assumptions before delivery.

A FEW PRACTICAL DETAILS

Good to know.

How do we get started?

Request account setup using the link below. The customer portal is being built; we’ll provide your access link when it is ready. Once set up, you or your team can upload drawings, add instructions, and submit projects directly without arranging a call for each takeoff.

What will I receive?

An Excel workbook containing the takeoff and consolidated material list, plan overlays, an RFI list, and proposal notes documenting scope, questions, and assumptions. Revisions for clarifications within 7 days are included.

How is AI used in the process?

AI tools assist with preparing the takeoff. An estimator with 10 years of experience reviews the work before delivery. AI output is part of the preparation process; the completed takeoff includes personal review and documented assumptions.

How long does a takeoff take?

Residential: 2–3 business days. Larger custom residential and smaller commercial: 3–4 business days. Larger projects: 3–6 business days.

Can I request an expedited project?

Yes. Rush requests for delivery in under 48 hours carry an additional 25–50% of the project fee, subject to availability. Send your required delivery date, project type and size, and scope using the expedited request option. We’ll confirm the deadline and final rush price before you proceed.

Can I give instructions that differ from the drawings?

Yes. Include those instructions with your submission: scope changes, project-specific nuances, exclusions, or other differences you want reflected in the takeoff. We review the instructions alongside the plans and identify anything that needs clarification.

What happens when drawings or requirements change?

Send a message within the project, upload an addendum, or submit a change request. We’ll handle the revision. Keeping changes in the project gives your team one place for drawings, instructions, questions, and takeoff updates.

Where do you take on projects?

Located in Ohio. Serving anywhere in the world. Work is coordinated remotely through digital drawings and project messages. Include your project location, drawing units, and scope in the submission.

Can our sales team use the system?

Yes. The workflow is designed for lumber yards, carpentry firms, and general contractors with recurring takeoff needs. After customer setup, you or someone on your team can submit projects and keep follow-up instructions with the relevant job.
